Community Modules¶
Community modules are written by other people. They are collected here because they are good and because someone was willing to share them, not because they went through an approval process designed to keep things out.
They differ from official modules in two ways that matter. They carry their own authors, so each one needs its own credit line when you use it. And they are not automatically updated when the engine changes, so a module written against 1.0 may need a pass before it runs on a later version.
Currently listed¶
Nothing yet. Frontiers 1.0 has only just released, so there has not been time for anyone to build one.
This page exists because that will change, and because it should be obvious from the start that there is a place for other people's work here rather than an afterthought added once someone asks.
Submitting a module¶
Send it to contact@jaykepaver.me, or raise it in the Discord if you would rather talk it through first.
There is no form and no template. What helps:
- A link to the module, wherever it lives. It does not need to be hosted here, and keeping it on your own itch page or site is completely fine.
- Which Ruleset or Rulesets it was written against, and whether you have checked it on the others.
- What it adds, assumes, and touches. The same three questions every module answers.
- How you want to be credited, including a link.
What happens next¶
Submissions get read and tried. If a module works, it goes on this page with your name and your link on it.
If it does not, you will get an actual reason rather than silence. Usually that reason is a rules interaction that has not been noticed yet, which is worth knowing either way.
What is not required¶
You do not need permission to write a module, publish one, or charge for it. The ORC License already grants that, and nothing on this page changes it. Listing here is a way of pointing people at your work, not a gate in front of it.
You keep your rights to what you wrote. Listing it here does not transfer anything, and you can ask for the listing to be removed at any time.
One thing to understand before you submit, because it cannot be undone: taking a module off this page removes the listing, not the license. Once a work has been published under the ORC License, that offer is irrevocable, and anyone who picked it up keeps their rights to it permanently. That is true of everything here, including the engine itself. If you are not ready for a piece of work to be open forever, hold it back until you are.
